Justice Clarence Thomas Received Luxurious Vacations from a Wealthy Republican Donor for Decades

In an interesting turn of events, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas voted to overturn a bribery conviction against a former Virginia Governor back in 2016 while supposedly accepting luxurious vacations for a wealthy Republican donor.

This comes after it was revealed that Thomas’ wife, Virginia Thomas, had advocated for the overturning of the 2020 election results. At the same time, the supreme court ruled on the ever-controversial overturning of Roe v. Wade, where Justice Thomas voted in favor of overturning the case.

It has been alleged that Justice Thomas has been accepting gifts from this particular donor over the span of decades without reporting it.

What Are the Rules for Gifting

New rules for disclosing gifts were adopted in March of 2023. Under these new rules, justices and other federal judges must report private jet travel, in addition to their lodging at any commercial property like hotels or resorts.

Extent of Gifts

It was reported by ProPublica that Thomas went on personal yacht cruises gifted by the billionaire Republican donor, Harlan Crow.

Additionally, Thomas reportedly flew on Crow’s private jets and stayed at his private resort frequently. Allegedly, the yacht would have cost Thomas a whopping $500,000 if he were to have chartered it himself.

Thomas also traveled with Crow to Bohemian Grove, the all-male retreat in California, and allegedly spent one week every year at Crows Private Resort in the Adirondacks.

Update 4/13/2023

According to ProPublica, the most egregious offense by far has been released: It has been alleged that billionaire Harlan Crowe bought a property from Justice Thomas for an undisclosed amount. It is unclear if he bought the property at market value or if it was generously over the top. Sign up for updates to be the first one to find out when the information is released:
